MICRONEEDLING AND BENEFITS:
If you are looking to improve something about your skin – whether it’s minimizing scars, pore size, reducing fine lines, hyperpigmentation, melasma, evening out skin tone, or simply achieving a more radiant glow – microneedling could be the answer.
SkinPen is a device that involves the use of ultra-fine- microneedles being passed over the face. The needles create micro-injuries on the skin, which in turn sends collagen and elastin production into overdrive to compensate as it heals – leaving your complexion tighter and plumper than it was beforehand.
No need to worry, the process is almost painless as your skin will be fully numbed for 30min prior to the treatment.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT:
You should avoid exfoliating in the days leading up to the treatment as this can be damaging to the skin. We recommend avoiding sun exposure for at least 48 hours or longer if you burn easily. This will give your skin time to heal before microneedling and reduce any risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring. You should also avoid topical retinoids, hair removal creams, and antibiotics for at least one week before your appointment.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT:
Microneedling healing time is very short and what you don’t see is what’s going on under the surface. Full regeneration takes up to a month or two. The healing process starts immediately after the injury’s been caused. After and during the treatment there may be some pinpoint bleeding and your skin will start turning red and feel tight. You can expect to be red and tender for the rest of that day and some slight swelling and bruising which is normal. Within a day or two you may experience itching, flaking, peeling, tightness, possible breakouts and bumps if you are prone to acne. Healing is generally complete within 4-5 days post. Make sure you follow your post care instructions and products.
