CHERRY ANGIOMA

WHAT IS A CHERRY ANGIOMA?

Cherry Angiomas, also commonly known as red bumps, are small red mole-like growths on the skin that are typically considered unharmful. They are a mass of dilated capillaries, the tiniest of all blood vessels. Many individuals prefer getting them removed if they are in an unusual location or to improve their aesthetics.

Whatsoever, the good news is that with the technology advancements in the field of medicine and cosmetics, numerous convenient procedures, such as laser treatment, are now available for the quick removal of red bumps on the skin.

WHAT CAUSES CHERRY ANGIOMAS?

The exact cause of cherry angiomas isn’t known, but it is thought that genes play a role since they often run in families. Age and pregnancy (hormones) can also be a factor.

HOW CAN YOU TREAT YOUR CHERRY ANGIOMA?

The most effective way of treating cherry angiomas is with Nd:YAG laser treatments. The laser penetrates the skin and targets the angioma, generating heat and destroying the blood vessels without damaging the surrounding skin. This is a very quick procedure with minimal discomfort. Depending on the size of the angioma you may have some bruising and healing generally takes 7-10 days.
