CHEMICAL PEELS AND BENEFITS:
Chemical peels are one of the most effective ways to address skin concerns but there is no such thing as one peel fits all. Peels are an excellent treatment choice for a wide range of skin concerns, from acne and hyperpigmentation to advanced signs of aging. Despite their varying uses, most peels work the same way: they remove the most outer layers to stimulate cell renewal and cell turnover, improving the skin’s texture and appearance.
With the help of Dermalogica Pro Power Peels we can now customize a peel treatment plan for each client and target their concerns without any increased inflammation of the skin.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT AND WHAT TO EXPECT:
Chemical peels are a very safe noninvasive treatment when the right precautions are taken. It is important to avoid sun tanning, tanning creams/sprays, waxing or tweezing one week before. Stop exfoliating and using retinol at least 3 days before the appointment. Laser treatments must be avoided for 2 weeks as well as Botox.
Your aesthetician will cleanse the skin prior to the treatment and apply a one-step prep solution of witch hazel and alcohol that effectively degreases the skin for deeper peel penetration and better results. A few layers of customized peel solution will then be applied to the skin for 10min. Once the application process is complete, we will then stop the chemical process with a neutralizer. Your skin might feel tingly, warm and tight during the treatment and after. Calming products will be applied and sunscreen if necessary.
You may have some same day redness and warm sensation and some flaking and peeling in the days to come but typically no longer than 5 days. Then enjoy your new refreshed glowing skin.
